Premium or Standard?
- Our standard packages are suitable for arboricultural consultants who have mostly small/medium sized clients; with a larger project once or twice a year. These packages are limited in terms of number of clients, numbers of trees, and they do not have the premium advanced features.
- Our premium packages are intended for arboricultural consultants and consultancies that have a lot of clients every year and/or regularly deal with larger surveys and/or like the advanced features.
Option 1: Single Arb Consultant
If you are a consultant working alone, or are the only consultant/surveyor in your company, then you should buy either the Premium or Standard subscription for (a) BS5837 Surveys (planning), (b) Tree Safety Surveys or (c) the Combined package.
If you want other people in your company to have access for office work, on-site surveying or updating works completed etc., then see the Consultancy Team section below.
NB: All OTISS subscription are per-user – each user has a separate login name (email) and password. So the Terms and Conditions require that only one user uses the OTISS account.

Option 2: Arb Consultants occasionally working together
If you occasionally collaborate with a colleague who already has their own OTISS account, then you can simply add them to your Client via the Client-> Access webpage and the Add User button. You can work together to survey and/or manage the Client. There is no extra charge for this!
Within your consultancy, if you have have several consultants that work largely independently, but occasionally collaborate on larger projects, then you can simply add each other to the specific clients via the Client-> Access webpage and the Add User button. You can work together to survey and/or manage the Client. There is no extra charge for this!
In both the above cases, each person should have their own separate Premium or Standard subscription for (a) BS5837 Surveys (planning), (b) Tree Safety Surveys or (c) the Combined package – as above. Each will manage their own list of Clients and only see their colleague’s client(s) when assigned.

Option 3: Consultancy Team
When you have a team of consultants and surveyors that regularly work together on lots of projects, then we can set them up as a consultancy team. The team consists of a Main Consultant and one or more additional users – all on a single annual invoice.
The Main Consultant is just like one of the above Arb Consultants subscriptions. You would buy the Premium subscription for (a) BS5837 Surveys (planning), (b) Tree Safety Surveys or (c) the Combined package.
- This account must include all the features required by the entire team. The rest of the team are simply using the features and accessing the clients belonging to this main consultant.
- This account has its own login email and password; it could be that of the team manager, or one setup for the office staff – whatever you decide.
- This user has complete control over all the clients and which members of the team can access them.
- It is recommended that you setup a Client Template as a means for ensuring consistency and to automatically assign users to newly created clients – read more.
Additional Consultants can then be added to the Consultancy Team.
- They can be assigned to any of the clients at any access level (i.e. Admin, Manager, Surveyor, Viewer).
- They can see the full list of consultancy clients – but must be assigned to a client before they can use it. They can be assigned manually by the Main Consultant, or by another Admin user, or automatically via the Client Template when the client was created.
- They can create new clients for the consultancy. The can add new sites and new surveys. They can load maps or customise the survey forms. You can have it setup so that these users can do everything the Main Consultant can do – or they can be restricted and/or excluded on some clients.
- As part of a Consultancy Team the annual subscription cost of these consultants is a bit less than that of the Main Consultant.
Additional Surveyors can then be added to the Consultancy Team.
- These users are restricted in what they can do – but the annual subscription cost is less than the additional consultants.
- They can be assigned to any of the clients – but only at an access level of Surveyor or Viewer.
- They are intended mainly for carrying out on-site surveys using the mobile survey app – but they can also login to the website to tidy up the data and generate reports.
- The Consultants (above) assign them to clients and surveys – and these guys go out and do the work.
- They cannot create new clients, new sites or new surveys. They cannot load maps or customise the survey forms.
Named user accounts
An important point to bear in mind is that OTISS maintains the audit trail of who carried out the inspections on which trees. Each user has a separate login/email and password. This is important for legal and professional responsibility and accountability. So it is important that everyone uses their own login and password; (1) to access the clients/surveys they need and (2) to have their name recorded on all inspections.
When a member of staff leaves we can disable their account – but their data is still available for all to use. Then we will setup a new account for the a new/replacement user and transfer over their subscription to the new user. This way we maintain the good security, clear tracebility and good professional accountability.
