Before using the phone or tablet for surveying, an OTISS survey must be created for the site, and the appropriate inspectors/surveyors must be assigned. Then, from the Tree Survey app’s Main Menu the following commands can be used.

Check Online…

The Check Online button will check with the OTISS website and present a list of the ‘active’ surveys to which you have been assigned. You can select a survey and download it to the device. All the details, maps, forms and previous inspections required for that survey will be copied over to the device’s local database. The survey will disappear from this list and re-appear in the Downloaded Surveys list

Downloaded Surveys

The Downloaded Surveys button presents a list of the surveys that have already been downloaded to the device’s local database. Once downloaded, you can start to collect data for a survey, and then sync the data back to the OTISS website. When the survey is finished and you have sync’ed all yuor changes back to OTISS, the survey can be safety removed from the phone.

Tree Safety and for Site Furniture surveys are supported. In fact, if you download both a Tree Safety survey and a Furniture survey for the same site, then both sets of icons will be displayed on the map at the same time.

Options Menu

The font size can be changed using the Settings option. The smaller sized fonts are suitable for phones, whereas the larger font sizes are best suited to tablets.
