When you create a new tree, or re-survey and existing tree, then you are presented with the Tree Inspection form. This form allows you to fill in the detailed tree inspection data.

Species

Pressing the species button presents you with a list of tree species. Using the options menu, the species list can be ordered alphabetically by Common or Botanical name.

• Use the species Not identified if you are not sure and enter your guess in the Variety field.
• If the species you require is not in the list, use the species Other and enter the species in the Variety field. Please let us know so we can update our species database.

The Variety text field can be used to add extra species information. You can customise the dropdown list of suggestions on the OTISS website in the Estate->Tree Safety tab.

Survey Notes…

The Survey Notes and Recommendation fields allow for free text entry. Below each field there is another button to allow you to quickly enter commonly used sentences and phrases, that can then be modified to suit this particular inspection. You can customise the set of phrases by editing the text files that are located in the TreeSurvey folder on your Android device.

Options Menu

The following options are presented when you press the device’s options button.

• Save all the changes made so far and return to the map.
• Discard any changes made so far and return to the map.
• Delete this inspection. If this tree was previously recorded as part of another survey, then the tree will still appear on the map as an Amber coloured icon – you cannot delete the tree. If this was a new tree, then the icon will disappear from the map.
• The font size can be changed using the Settings option. The smaller sized fonts are suitable for phones, whereas the larger font sizes are best suited to tablets.
